We have had a very successful “Autism and Neurodiversity Celebrations Week” this week with lots of thoughtful learning in assembly and PSHE lessons about our unique strengths and differences. We have learnt that some differences in thinking have been given names such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and Tourette's. We have thought about how we can be supportive friends to people with brains that work in a different way to ours.
Some highlights were:
· Learning some basic Makaton.
· Joey, from Sycamore class, sharing his story, “How to protect my fish tank” in assembly (see below for a PDF of his story).
· And of course, today’s Spectrum Colour Challenge dress up day to raise money for The National Autistic Society.
